Welcome to Retro-Blue

RETRO-BLUE is a group of experienced central Ohio jazz vocalists and musicians brought together by Don Nichols and Jim Curlis to record original, jazz, blues, and adult contemporary music. The list of their credits is extensive. As individual players they have headlined with such star performers as Sarah Vaughn, Tony Bennet, Maynard Ferguson, Woody Herman, Tom Scott, and the Brecker Bothers; and played or are playing with local orchestras including the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and Columbus Jazz Orchestra.

What's New?

The new Retro-Blue CD, titled “Moments”, features the wonderful vocals of Kelly Delaveris and Kay Harris on blues, jazz, and other new songs that place them "right in their wheelhouse" as musical artists. Every song on the album - even the three instrumentals - has a story to tell. Each captures a particular moment or series of moments in the life of someone you know, know of, or at least someone you will get to know by the end of the album through the magic of music.

The Band

Originally, Don Nichols and Jim Curlis brought together this unique collection of talent specifically for the recording "Wishes and Dreams." - the first Retro-Blue CD. But Don kept writing, as did Jim, so before long there was another album to record (rumor has it that a third album is already in the works) and the band was once again together in the studio. Now there's even talk about the band doing live performances in Central Ohio. The individual artists featured on both of the Retro-Blue CDs perform regularly with their own bands and as featured artists in various other ensembles, playing not only in Ohio, but throughout the US, Canada, and South America.
